Sunday Morning Sunshine
I have always been, and probably always will be, a light sleeper. I find that the best way for me to have a night of uninterrupted sleep is to maintain the same sleep schedule every day. Richard, on the other hand, likes to stay up late Saturday nights and watch Hockey Night in Canada.
So Sunday mornings, I'm up bright and early, and he's still sleeping. It's nice to have some quiet time, especially on a day like today when the sun is pouring in through our balcony doors. This morning, I've been knitting a purple sleeve:
I've gotten into the habit of making muffins on Sunday mornings as well, using the same basic reduced-fat muffin recipe (pg. 783 in our '97 hardcover edition) from The Joy of Cooking every time.* And then I mix it up. For instance, this morning's muffins replaced 1 cup flour with 1 cup whole wheat, I left out the cinnamon and vanilla but added 1 cup fresh (well, frozen and thawed) cranberries and the zest and juice of one orange. Yum. Last week, I left the vanilla in, kept the cinnamon out, and added pineapple and mango. Also yum. I've gotten to the point where I don't need to look at the recipe any more, and I can get a batch together in the time it takes the oven to preheat.
As a total aside, what is with the colour in the following picture? I don't have any photo editing software, and this is really.... BLUE... compared to the real thing.
* The Joy of Cooking was a shower gift from Richard's cousins, and we use it all the time! I didn't know what I didn't know about cooking (if you know what I mean) until I moved away from home.
