I love you mummy!*

*sorry your birthday present is so late

One of my favourite things about knitting lace projects is that at the end of it, there are few ends to deal with. In fact, I wove in all two (2) ends of this stole/scarf for my mom while I was waiting for the pictures to download. How awesome is that? (This is also why I like projects like socks and mittens - unless you decide to do any fancy colourwork, you only have a couple of ends to weave in).

This is the Arctic Diamonds Stole from the winter 2006 Interweave Knits magazine. It is knitted in Jaggerspun Zephyr in copper. And while this wasn't the most enjoyable piece of lace I've knitted**, this yarn is sooooo nice that who cares? I'm going to have a heck of a time letting go, though. So pretty... This is being packed up and sent to my mom this weekend, as a belated birthday gift. (Her birthday was in January.) I was going to send the moebius experiment, but there's some weirdness going on there that I may or may not eventually describe to you, the internet. My previous track record would suggest not. But you never know! I could surprise myself.

I'm still having trouble capturing colour accurately. Part of the issue is that I don't have any photo editing software, so I can only do the most basic things with the pictures. (Crop, colour saturation, delete, hehe). However, the above picture is the most accurate. The actual yarn changes with the light, and is so soft and shiny. And the drape! I've never met another lace weight yarn I've loved so much. But then, you already knew that.

I like this picture because you can see the bright sunshine through the lace. It's a beautiful day here in Halifax.

**It's not that I didn't enjoy this project. It's just a little too geometric for me. I'm drawn to organic shapes and patterns. One of the reasons I picked this, though, was because I hoped I'd zip through it quickly. Hahaha. not so much - I cast on soon after I bought the magazine (last year sometime, I should really keep track of these things), but then other projects (socks, Richard's sweater, moebius experiments) kept getting in the way.

ps to Lynda. Thank you for the 'tag' for the meme. I will reveal all, someday, maybe even soon. But not right now. (middle name is lazy...)

That looks fantastic! What a great present. I'd love to finish a large-scale lace project someday, but I don't know when that will happen...
(and if you need image software, you should look into the Gimp. it has similar functionality to Photoshop)

OK. I await patiently for the postperson to deliver this anytime soon, right? It is beautiful and now I want to see how really soft it is. OXO
