the cheque is in the mail...

I ended up doing two more dyeing sessions for my dye-o-rama pal. I really think the other stuff would have been too bright for her.

This yarn is more (theoretically) self-striping yarn, that will go from light green to dark green to light green to yellow and repeat.

I was happy with this yarn, but she mentioned liking blue as well as green, so I did a variegated yarn in pale green, turquoise and blue. The blue is hard to see in this picture, and actually gave me a lot of trouble. It would absorb into the yarn fairly quickly, and then would rinse out just as quickly when I tried to wash the yarn. I usually rinse with hot hot water in the sink, so I ended up just plugging the sink, adding 1/2 a bottle of vinegar, and then letting it sit there until it cooled. This time, when I squeezed the skein, the dye went into it, instead of coming out. And then stayed there when I rinsed it again. I think maybe it just needed more time to sit?

The bunny is luxuriating in the yarn. You can see that I used a piece of the felted sweater to make it a scarf, and it will be going into the package along with some organic endangered species chocolate and of course the yarn. Both colours, because I couldn't decide between them.

I'm mailing it today. I hope she likes the yarn.
