Taking a breather
Home at Last
I've found myself with a couple of hours to kill, so I thought I'd pop online a bit. My vacation was nice and fun, but somewhat tiring as well. Richard and I went to Ontario for 10 days to "make the rounds," so to speak, and spent a lot of our time driving here and there to visit with different people. Cannington, Brantford, Kitchener, London, Paisley, and more - we did it all. (Click on the link to see a nifty map of where we went.) (Why can't you all just congregate in one spot? It would make life so much easier.) So we got back on Sunday night around dinner time - not enough time to really DO anything except eat, unpack, sleep.
And then I find out that the only hours my boss can give me this week are in Pictou. Click here to get an idea what the commute is like. Except, now you have to imagine that the exits are 10-20 minutes apart at 120 kph and that all you see is trees, hills, and highways. So we left 7:30 yesterday am, got back around 5, spent a few minutes at the office. Today, left at about 8, taught for 1hr when I got there and then my student went home sick. Ack. So I wrote a report I had to get done, then came back. (wow! That's 4 hours of driving for 1:45 of work!) Oh well. I get mileage (or is that kilometreage?) and it's only until Thursday.
Needless to say, I'm getting mighty tired of sitting in the car. But - it's good to be back at work. I think I'm a bit of a nerd. I'm starting to like writing reports. Don't tell anyone.
Knitting Knews (Knot really)
Here is the picture that I promised of my Knitter's Treat Exchange swap package from my pal Marianne, who is from England.
Inside this faboo box are many many treats. Lots of little chocolate thingymajigs, some organic Green & Black's chocolate, a box of tea (mmm. tea) and (Richard's favourite) a little basil plant in a bag, which I have not yet planted because I have a black thumb, and also, see above with the holiday and the driving.
And then. And Then! Handmade soap and washcloth, a pattern for the Flared Lace Smoke Ring, and pink! yarn. The yarn is unbelievable squishy, and is called RY Cashsoft and is 57% merino, 33% microfibre, and 10% cashmere (swoon). Click here and then scroll all the way down to the bottom... If you click on the colour card, I think mine is called "monet," drool drool. Ehrm. I haven't seen this brand around in Halifax much, so thank you very much, Marianne!
Tonight we're going to see the Lacrosse World Championships (or something), which should be interesting. On the plane on the way home, I was talking to the lady sitting next to me, and she said her son was on Ireland's team. (Which got soundly whupped by the Canadian team yesterday, from what I heard.) Should be fun.
And, neither here nor there, how cute are my new cousin Jed and my mom? (Check out what she's wearing.)
