Mum's been bugging me
My mom was checking up on me (hi mom!) and said I hadn't posted anything in a while. Whaddaya know, she's right! (Aren't moms always right?)
I have no excuses - I just haven't been in the mood lately.
And I haven't taken any knitting pictures in a long time. BUT here are some pictures from our mini-vacation to new Brunswick at the beginning of August (or was that the end of July?) Lots of pictures.
In Fredericton. Beautiful beautiful city. The white lighthouse behind and to the left of me has a mini lighthouse museum in it. For two bucks a person, you can climb in ever-decreasing spirals up to the top, viewing panels and pictures about the St. John's River light houses. It got hotter and hotter the closer you get to the top, and then when you go out on the observation deck and stand in the breeze it's fantastic.
We went to Kings Landing Historical Settlement, just west of Fredericton. It's a living history site that spans the entire 19th century, and me being me, I managed to corner and talk the ear off of a couple of staff members. We had lunch onsite at the King's Head Inn, which was very yummy. (Even though we paid in 2007 dollars...) This picture is of the sawmill. Across the river, there's a working grist mill, where they grind flour and sell it in the gift shop to help support the museum.
We spent three amazing days at Fundy National Park, on the New Brunswick side of the Bay of Fundy. Tall cliffs, lush forests and the world's highest tides. And fog, lots of it. This picture was taken a 10 minute walk from our campsite, in an inlet (is that what they're called? Look at the map of the park - we stayed at Point Wolfe.) I'm standing on the floor of the inlet, in a dense fog bank. 12 hours either side of the time this picture was taken, I would have been swimming.
We did lots of hiking, mostly easy trails, but they were lots of fun. This boot was just sitting there, minding its own business. Makes you wonder how someone managed to lose 1 boot, though. The paths were fairly well maintained, although the time we were there, everything was a little soggy. Because the park is right on the Bay of Fundy, everything slopes down towards the water, so the trails had lots of ups and downs, and one even had a gazillion wooden stairs leading down into a small valley. (I may be exaggerating slightly, but holy moly did those stairs really work your glutes.)
Our last stop in New Brunswick was at the Hopewell Rocks. We took a walk down into the Bay of Fundy where you could walk around on the 'sea floor' and bump into all the other tourists. The rocks themselves were awesome, but the sit was so busy it kindof lost something. We were there at low tide, of course, but apparently you can also go at high tide and kayak around the rocks. The water level would be so high that you wouldn't be able to see the big hole through the bottom of this rock.
I have no excuses - I just haven't been in the mood lately.

Hi Valerie - I've been watching our blog too, and it's good to see you've added. Fundy looks like someplace I really want to go! I like the cute little worm. Looking forward to see you soon.
